Built for finance teams

Financial translation that keeps to the reporting calendar.

tolingo finance works for listed companies, fund managers, banks and insurers, and for nobody else. Everything is built around the rhythm of financial communication: reporting season, fixed publication dates, the handling of inside information and the expectation that every language version says exactly what the original says.

Every job goes to a specialist translator with experience in financial reporting and capital markets communication, someone fluent in the language of IFRS, German GAAP and the regulators. Glossaries and terminology management hold your wording steady across quarters and financial years, from the management report to the investor presentation.

Documents

The documents we translate for finance teams.

From consolidated financial statements to a PRIIPs KID. Each document type goes to translators with the matching focus in financial reporting, regulation or capital markets communication.

Annual and quarterly reports

Management report, consolidated financial statements and notes, translated using the wording of your previous years and consistent in style from the foreword down to the individual figures. Directly in your layout on request, in InDesign or Word templates.

Ad hoc announcements and investor relations

Ad hoc announcements, press releases, AGM documents and investor presentations, delivered as parallel language versions for the same release time. For urgent announcements our express translation takes over.

Fund documentation

Prospectuses, PRIIPs key information documents, factsheets and investor information for distribution across several markets, true to the prescribed format and with the same product terminology in every language version.

Regulatory reporting and compliance

Risk reports, Solvency II reports, SFDR disclosures and internal policies, translated by specialists who know the language of BaFin, ESMA and the EBA. How we speed up recurring reporting is set out below.

Recurring reporting

High frequency, steady quality.

Fund reporting, monthly reports and product factsheets come round quickly and often in many languages at once. Human translation alone is too expensive at that volume. Machine translation alone comes back unchecked, so it will not hold up. We run both: machine pre-translation for the speed, specialist post-editing to ISO 18587 for the reliability. For the annual report, the prospectus and any ad hoc announcement, human specialist translation remains the standard.

Levels of review

How a translation is built to stand up to scrutiny.

How many specialists your translation passes through depends on the service package you choose. As standard, a specialist translator with finance expertise does the work. For documents that investors, regulators or the press will read, a second specialist can be added under the four-eyes principle to ISO 17100. You set the level of review to match the document.

Revision by a second specialist

Under the four-eyes principle, a second specialist checks the translation against the original, including the figures, the designations and the mandatory disclosures. Recommended for anything that gets published.

Four-eyes principle ISO 17100

A reviewed resultConsistent with your previous years, with a quality certificate as a PDF. An extra linguistic check is available through our editing and proofreading service.

Please note: a translation is not an audit. Our specialist translations are terminologically correct and, where selected, checked under the four-eyes principle to ISO 17100. The accuracy of the figures and the regulatory sign-off stay with your company and its auditors.

Documented quality

The tolingo quality certificate.

For every translation we document the quality process that was applied, in a certificate tied to that project. It records which standards were used: ISO-compliant processes, qualified specialist translators and, where selected, the check by a second linguist.

You get the certificate as a PDF. It gives internal audit, your auditors or a regulator a traceable record of how the language version was produced.

Express

When the publication date is fixed.

Results press conference, AGM, a disclosure obligation: publication dates in the capital markets do not move. Urgent jobs are flagged as express or super express and prioritised straight away. The four-eyes principle stays available on request, even under time pressure.

Ad hoc in hours

Short regulatory announcements can be translated within a few hours where needed, so that every language version can go out at the same moment.

Nights and weekends too

Figures are often only signed off after the market closes. Where necessary we start overnight or at the weekend, with a binding delivery date in the quote.

A network across time zones

A translator network spread over several time zones shortens the turnaround without lowering the quality. Details on the express translation page.

Confidentiality

Inside information, protected by the process.

Until they are published, quarterly figures, transactions and draft announcements are inside information. Every document therefore follows clear security rules, from the first upload through to delivery.

An NDA that binds

Signed before the first file is sent, if you want one, and passed on as binding to the specialist translator doing the work.

Encrypted transfer

Files travel over SSL, on request through secure file transfer via Cryptshare, with no detour through unsecured channels.

EU servers, ISO 27001

Processing on European servers only, to ISO 27001, GDPR compliant and audited regularly.

A small, fixed group of handlers

Until publication, your documents are seen only by specialist translators bound to confidentiality. On request, a project room with restricted access and named handlers.

Languages

All the languages your distribution markets need.

220+
languages & variants

If you distribute funds or financial products across borders, investor information has to be in the language of each distribution market. We deliver every version under one roof, run in parallel by a single project manager and held together by central terminology management.

Common questions

Confidentiality, consistency, deadlines and formats.

How does tolingo protect inside information before publication?

tolingo is certified to ISO 27001. Documents are transferred in encrypted form, through Cryptshare on request, and processed on European servers only. Before the first file is sent we sign a confidentiality agreement if you want one, and pass it on as binding to the specialist translator doing the work. Until publication, the group of people handling the file stays small and named.

Will the terminology stay consistent with our previous annual reports?

Yes. From your earlier reports we build a translation memory and a glossary, and every new translation is checked against them. Line item names, segment names and KPI definitions therefore stay stable across quarters and financial years. Our terminology management keeps them up to date.

Does every translation go through two specialists?

Not automatically. As standard, a specialist translator with finance expertise does the work. The four-eyes principle to ISO 17100, where a second specialist checks the translation, belongs to our higher service packages and can be added for a specific job. We recommend it for anything that investors, regulators or the press will read.

How fast can an ad hoc announcement be translated?

Short regulatory announcements can be translated within a few hours where needed, in the evening, overnight or at the weekend, so that every language version can go out at the same moment. We confirm the binding delivery date in the quote. More on the express translation page.

Do you work in our formats and systems?

Yes. We translate directly in your templates, in Word, PowerPoint or InDesign, and return them with the layout intact. For recurring reporting we can connect to your CMS or document management system on request, so that translations flow back into your process without copy and paste.

Which languages do you translate financial documents into?

We cover more than 220 languages and variants, with native-speaker specialist translators who know the financial vocabulary of their target market. Where you distribute in several markets, our project managers run all the language versions in parallel with the same terminology.
