Whether German is the source or target language – with a first-class translation, your message not only gets across, but also has a real impact. At the tolingo translation agency, we combine the strengths of human and AI translation. As a result, we can quickly create high-quality translations which are adapted linguistically, stylistically and culturally to the language of their intended recipients.
Why tolingo
At tolingo, we only work with native translators who live in the country of the target language. Our artificial intelligence (AI) is highly specialised and produces high-quality translations within seconds. By combining man and machine, we create outstanding results in any language combination.
We handle your data very carefully throughout the entire process. Data security is just as important to us as the quality of our translations. This is confirmed by our 4 certifications: for translation services (ISO 17100), for post-editing of Machine Translations (ISO 18587), for quality management (ISO 9001) and for information security (ISO/IEC 27001).
With a network of over 6,000 translators in all time zones, we respond quickly to your request. We usually send the translation to you within a few days – depending on the volume of the text. And if you're in a hurry, we'll prioritise your translation with the Express or Super-Express options and deliver it even faster – without any loss of quality.
Collaboration
In order to ensure that your messages are received effectively by those for whom they are intended, the translation must be adapted perfectly to their linguistic traits – linguistically, culturally and as far as specialist areas are concerned. Authentic translations into and from German can only come about with an excellent feel for the language and the right professional expertise.
Our native-speaker translators are familiar with all the peculiarities of the German language and are experts in many specialist areas. We continuously train our AI so that it can deliver high-quality results very quickly. Through the effective combination of human beings and AI, we produce translations that hit the mark with your readers.
We set particularly high quality standards for every translation – and we meet them, too. tolingo is one of just a few translation agencies worldwide to have been ISO-certified four times: for our translation services (ISO 17100), for post-editing of machine translations (ISO 18587), for our quality management (ISO 9001) and for our information security (ISO/IEC 27001).
Professional translations
A translation is only good if its message gets across – and you are happy with it. If you wish, we can speed things up, certify documents with a stamp and signature, proofread everything using the four-eye principle, format your documents in their original layout and ensure consistent linguistic usage. These are our add-on services:
Express & Super Express
If it's (super) urgent, we'll turbo-charge on request, prioritize your order and deliver the translation extra quickly - without any loss of quality.
Proofreading & editing
A second translator takes a close look at the translation. Where necessary, the text is adapted technically, linguistically and stylistically.
Certification
We make it official: Our sworn translators provide you with a certified translation for all documents - with stamp and signature.
Layout adaptation
If you want the translation to look good, too: Our graphics experts format the translated text exactly as in the original document.
Glossary creation
We create a glossary with your translation modules. This way, you always communicate in a consistent manner and increase your recognition value.
Translation memory
Your translations are stored in a database and used in future commissions. This increases consistency and saves you time and money.

FAQ
Key questions – and all the answers
You can get a translation from German into another language from €0.08/word. Translations into German are available from a price of €0.06/word.
The price for every translation depends on a number of factors, including the combination of source and target language, the translation method and in some cases the specialist area. Ultimately, the length of the text, the add-on services required and the deadline (for translations with an express option) also play a part in the overall cost.
The delivery time for a German translation – and generally for any translation – depends above all on the length of the text. As soon as we know the volume of your order, we send you a quotation with a guaranteed delivery date.
Fundamentally, our procedures are set up and our processes optimised so that we can turn any translation around rapidly. We often deliver smaller translation projects within 1-2 working days. If you are in a particular hurry with a translation, you can shorten the delivery time with our Express or Super Express options. We then give your order a high priority and deliver it even faster.
Our sworn translators will be happy to provide a certified translation of your documents – including a stamp and signature. We translate and certify foreign documents into German and German documents into numerous other languages.
A certified translation is usually required to submit to (foreign) offices or authorities. Such documents are often contracts, certificates or testimonials. We would advise you to ask at the outset whether you have to submit a certified translation or not.
By the way, you can also get certified translations of documents easily and quickly from Beglaubigung24. Simply upload the document – and you’re done!
Of course, we can compile a translation memory for your German translations if you wish. Simply tell us when you place you order that we should set up a database for your translations.
A translation memory is a kind of “hard drive” and is particularly useful if you need regular translations. All your translations are saved in a database and translated paragraphs and sections of text are reused for future translation jobs. This improves the quality and consistency of your texts, and you save time and money.
The fastest way to obtain your professional translation is in the tolingo online shop. Here you can upload your documents and order the translation with just a few clicks.
You can ask about and place orders for more complex projects simply by phone or email.

German is spoken in Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Belgium Germany is also understood and spoken in the regions of Denmark, France and northern Italy that border Germany. Over 130 million people in the world speak German as a second or foreign language, about 100 million of them as their first language.
Germany is known for its complex grammar, especially among new learners of the language. One-to-one translations into or from German may work if all that matters is conveying information. But they are not necessarily effective, fluent (or error-free). Of course, that should be the case if you want your message to come across correctly. And certainly, when it comes to translations of contracts and legal documents, it is not sufficient to be able to speak German well. You have to know your way around this specialist area, too.
When you read something, sometimes it has an impact on you, sometimes less so. There can be several reasons for this – and the form of address is one of the most important. Advertising texts in particular (e.g. posters, flyers, social media ads) can have different effects on people. Of course, you should like the product or at least have the potential to do so. If you do, the way you are addressed can determine whether you buy it or not. Are you being addressed formally or informally? Do you like to be spoken to like an old friend or do you prefer a more formal distance? These are all questions that are just as important for marketing translations as they are for the original marketing texts. There are differences in the forms of personal address between languages. And language is one of the most effective levers in winning over potential customers.
Another point relating to the correct form of address: genders. Gender-neutral language is a hot topic (and not just in the marketing) world and can be found on an increasing number of platforms and in various forms of text. Of course, that makes a translation more challenging – whether it is into or from German. How do I reach all the people I want to reach with a translation without excluding anybody? Is gender-neutral language indicated in the target language by asterisks or colons? These are the questions you should answer before you have your website translated, for example. Because different languages and cultures deal with this issue differently. And you should keep that in the back of your mind at least.
There are some German texts that you cannot understand even though you are a native speaker. Usually these are specialist texts, scattered with technical terminology and specific formulations. Because every sector and every specialist area speaks its own language. Getting that right is the great art of a professional translation. (So far) no translation tool can promise reliable, error-free translations with a specialist focus. Human specialist translators (still) have their noses in front here and should at least proofread AI translations. But machine translations are catching up in terms of quality. And they clearly already have an advantage in terms of speed!
As a rule of thumb, “the more complex, the more professional” certainly applies to specialist translations. But when is a text sufficiently complicated for you to need it translated? Unfortunately, there is no one-size-fits-all rule. Even though precision and accuracy are important in both, an academic translation certainly has different requirements to a technical translation. Our recommendation: this is where you should seek help. Ideally from the experts at a professional translation agency.
