Scope

We check the language. Not the content.

A clear scope means clear expectations.

We check

  • Spelling, grammar, punctuation
  • Style, tone, readability
  • Linguistic consistency
  • Removing tell-tale signs of AI

We don’t check

  • Accuracy of content, facts, figures
  • Technical or legal soundness
  • Trademark law, compliance
  • Typesetting in the final layout

Hourly editing at tolingo: the key facts at a glance

  • What: Monolingual editing and proofreading for German and English texts. We check the text in its original language, with no translation involved.
  • Who: Native-speaker editors with industry knowledge, and dedicated contacts.
  • Cost: €65/hour, minimum order 1 hour, billed in 15-minute units.
  • What sets it apart: An hourly rate rather than a per-word price. You pay for the actual work, not a theoretical word count.

For AI-generated text too: ChatGPT, Claude, DeepL

We check text from AI tools such as ChatGPT and Claude, and translations from DeepL, specifically for typical AI patterns: monotonous sentence structure, empty superlatives, missing sources and hallucinations. The result keeps the efficiency of AI but sounds human and gets the subject matter right.

Three use cases come up most often, and tolingo has the right tool for each:

AI drafts (original text from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini): This is where hourly editing helps. We remove typical AI stock phrases, trim bloated sentences and check facts wherever hallucinations are likely.

AI translations (DeepL, Google Translate, Claude): Here the language alone is only part of it; what matters is fidelity to the source text. Our post-editing service for AI translations takes care of that.

Machine translation to a recognised standard: If you run machine translation in production, our MT service with post-editing to ISO 18587 is the right level. For more background, see our guide to proofreading AI-generated text.

Frequently asked questions
Prices, delivery times and languages

How much does an hour of editing cost?

€65/hour, minimum order 1 hour, billed in 15-minute units. No set-up fees, no hidden costs. For larger jobs, or for languages other than German and English, our per-word service, with proofreading from €0.04/word and specialist editing from €0.06/word, is often the better choice.

How quickly will my text be ready?

Standard delivery is 24 to 48 hours for smaller jobs. Express delivery within 24 hours carries a 30% surcharge. For longer texts, we agree the timing individually and set it out in the quote.

Which languages does the hourly rate cover?

German and English texts, at the moment. For other languages, we offer our per-word service in 220+ languages. English texts are checked by native speakers from the US, the UK or other English-speaking markets, depending on the variety you need.

How do you protect my text?

tolingo is ISO 27001 certified. Our editors sign NDAs. Documents are transferred encrypted and processed on European servers. For sensitive documents, we can set up dedicated project environments on request.

How does the quick brief work?

Upload your text in the quick brief form above, add the language and how fast you need it, and send it off. Within an hour during business hours, you receive a specific quote by email, free of charge and with no obligation.
