The translation agency tolingo is one of the very few translation service providers worldwide to have earned quadruple ISO certification. ISO is the globally recognised International Organization for Standardization. The certificates verify that tolingo reliably adheres to very high standards. In order to ensure that things stay this way, we regularly undergo recertification.

ISO 17100

In August 2015, tolingo was audited and certified by the certification authority LinguaCert in accordance with the international standard ISO 17100 for the first time.

ISO 17100 is an international quality standard for translation services, which replaced the former DIN EN 15038. ISO standards promote objective criteria to ensure translation quality. The implementation of the requirements outlined by the ISO standard are assessed every year before the certificate is granted. In September 2020, an extensive repeat audit was carried out and tolingo was recertified.

The standard entails clear requirements for carrying out core processes, the qualifications required, the availability and application of resources as well as of the skills and roles required for the provision of high-quality translation services.

ISO 18587

In August 2022, tolingo was audited and certified by the certification authority LinguaCert in accordance with the international standard ISO 18587 for the first time.

This international standard supplements ISO 17100, which confirms the quality of translation services. ISO 18587 establishes global standards for the post-editing of AI-generated translations (machine translation) and outlines the quality requirements for the post-editing of machine translations

ISO 9001

In September 2016, TÜV Süd also audited and certified tolingo’s quality-management system in line with the ISO 9001 standard.

This standard is the most important norm in the quality management sector both at a national and internal level. Every year, an independent auditor from TÜV Süd is responsible for assessing tolingo’s adherence to the quality management system requirements outlined in the standard.

ISO/IEC 27001

In September 2018, TÜV Süd assessed and certified tolingo’s data security management system in accordance with ISO/IEC 27001 for the first time.

The certification makes tolingo a forerunner in the translation sector. ISO/IEC 27001:2013 is a leading international standard for data security management systems (ISMS). The industry standard sets out the requirements for the implementation, application, monitoring and improvement of a data security management system. The technology used to protect client data is regularly assessed, scrutinised and optimised. Furthermore, each one of tolingo’s employees is made aware of the importance of data security and receives regular training
