    FAQ

Key questions – and all the answers

    • How do I apply to tolingo?

You can apply online by sending us your details directly via email. To do this, simply use our designated email address: jobs@tolingo.com. You can apply for more than one vacancy at a time, or send a speculative application.

    • What documents do I need to enclose with my application?

Your cover letter and CV are the most relevant documents for us, but you’re welcome to add additional materials to support your application.

    • What format should I use when sending my application documents? Is there a maximum file size?

You can send us your application documents in Word, Excel or PDF format. Whether you send everything in one file or multiple is up to you. Please make sure that your documents are no larger than 25 MB.

    • What happens to my application after I send it?

Once you’ve emailed in your application, you should get an email from us to confirm receipt – if not, please check whether your application was actually sent. Candidates will then be shortlisted by our HR department. All applications are treated confidentially. You’ll be contacted by us after the shortlisting process. Successful applicants who meet our requirements for the vacancy are then invited to take part in a phone interview, while all other applicants receive a rejection letter by email. A rejection is in no way a judgement or a reflection of doubt regarding your abilities; sometimes a recruitment choice comes down to mere details. Please understand that although we’re unable to send every applicant a rejection letter detailing the reasons upon which our decision was based; however you can contact our HR manager by phone at any time to ask us about our decision.

    • How will I know that tolingo has received my application?

A confirmation will be sent to your email address as soon as your application is received. If you do not receive a confirmation, please check your spam filter as well as the size of your attachments. Your documents should be no larger than 25 MB.

    • How does the tolingo application process work?

The application process depends on the vacancy. We usually start with a 20-minute phone interview, during which we ask you some questions about your application and motivations. If successful, you will be invited to a maximum of two interviews with management, human resources and supervisors. Some vacancies also involve a trial period during which you can get accustomed to both the job and team.

    • How long will tolingo store my application and personal data?

We store the personal data that you provide only until the application process is completed.

In the event that you’ve sent us a speculative application, or we can’t currently offer you another position for other reasons, we will ask you whether we may keep your details on file, or not. If you consent to this in writing (informally via email), your data will be stored for another six months. After those six months, you’ll need to give written consent to keep your details on file. Otherwise, your data will be deleted.

    • Who has access to the data I provide in my application?

Only the tolingo HR department and people directly involved in the application and hiring process have access to your data.

    • I don’t have any professional experience in the translation industry. Is it still worth applying?

People from different career backgrounds are always welcome at tolingo! The most important thing is a compelling personality that fits the company. We believe that people with a passion for languages benefit tolingo even if they don’t yet have any professional experience in the industry. However, specific departments such as our in-house editing team require skills and experience from within the translation industry, or else a relevant academic background, in order to meet our high quality standards.
