28th June at 20:00 (CEST) is the big moment: memoQ is having a major upgrade. We will be updating memoQ 9.7 to the latest LTS version, memoQ 9.12. During this process, there will be a scheduled downtime that usually lasts no longer than an hour. It won’t be possible for you to edit projects in memoQ during this period. Therefore, we strongly recommend that you synchronise all your current projects in advance to avoid possible interruptions.
Key details at a glance
To benefit from the new features and improvements, and to ensure compatibility, we ask that you update your memoQ Client to version 9.12 as well.
New features at a glance:
Improved tag display
In the past, the long tag view had to be selected in order to distinguish tags from each other. With the new version of memoQ, tags are now also assigned numbers in the short view. This makes it easier to position the tags correctly in the target text without losing important information such as IDs or numbers.
Optimised segment filtering
With the new features, filtered terms are highlighted in the segments for easier recognition. It is also possible to re-filter segments that have already been filtered.
Ability to exclude segments in auto-propagation
The auto-propagation function can be a useful feature that automatically fills in segments that have already been translated. However, there are cases where certain segments need to be excluded from automatic pre-translation. In the new version of memoQ, segments can be excluded from auto-propagation as required.
New features in concordance search
Improved concordance search when opening from the Editor (Ctrl+K) by having memoQ automatically detect whether the search term occurs in the source or target text. In addition, you can decide for yourself where the search should take place.
Ignore non-translatables in QA and spellcheck
Previously, non-translatables were detected as errors during spellcheck and QA. With the new settings, non-translatables can be excluded from the spellcheck to pay closer attention to linguistic aspects.
Optimised termbase function
The feature of adding a term to the termbase (glossary) via Ctrl+E from the Editor has been adjusted. Previously, the term had to be confirmed via the “Add” button, which was occasionally forgotten. In the new version, memoQ now warns you before closing the window if there are unsaved changes.
Simplified licensing
Vendors who download memoQ for the first time no longer need to use the 30-day test version. With memoQ 9.12 you can request a licence directly from a server. This makes it easier to get started and enables seamless use of memoQ.
We hope that you find this information about the forthcoming update of memoQ useful and that the new features will help you to further optimise your work and make it more efficient. If you have any queries, simply contact us at translators@tolingo.com.
We wish you continued success in working with memoQ!
Sunny greetings
